MIP robotics : A gear shifting robot in the GMP bench
Route 26 is also a gem finder! By discovering MIP Robotics, EMC will be able to equip its latest GMP bench in Bosroumois with a gear shifting robot.
The discovery: MIP robotics
MIP Robotics is a startup created in 2016. Based in Paris, it develops robots that are easy to program for SMEs. The 4-axis robot allows a payload of 5 kg to be moved with a repeatability of 0.5 mm. Equipped with safety devices, this robot works alongside the teams while relieving them of tedious and repetitive tasks.
The ease of implementation of this solution is an asset for SMEs, which now have an affordable and adapted solution. It was only natural that MIP contacted EMC through Route 26 to study its needs and offer its services.
The integration of a robot on the EMC benches
Route 26 is not only a startup incubator, it is also the gateway to innovation thanks to startups offering their services. This is how the study phase for the integration of the MIP Robotics robot on the powertrain bench at the Normand EMC site began. This makes it possible to extend the testing offer on this bench by offering a new service. No more testing at a single speed!
The next step is to adapt the robot so that it changes gears in less than 2 seconds. To do this, we have to develop the clamp so that it fits perfectly to the gearshift lever. The MIP robot interfaces with PULSAR, the bench control software developed by EMC. In the long term, it is also planned to deploy the solution on the EMC roller bench, to shift gears in vehicles to improve working comfort for operators.
